They are particularly suited to buildings that have high ceilings, are poorly insulated, or very drafty. Quartz infrared heaters have been available for over 10 years during which time they have been installed in workshops, warehouses, loading bays, churches, animal houses, factories, aircraft hangars, gymnasiums etc. They are also used outdoors under waterproof covers in street cafes, beer gardens, golf driving ranges etc. When they are used outdoors it is very important they are fully protected from rainfall. WiringThe HQ1500G and HQ3000G are supplied prewired with 1.5m of heat resistant cable. They are suitable for use with a standard 13A plug. The HQ4500G is supplied without a cable. It must only be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations. Connection should be made using a high temperature cable conforming to BS6500 having a continuous operating temperature of at least 180C (H05SS-F). The HQ4500G is supplied configured for 230V single phase use, it can easily be converted on site for 400V 3 phase and neutral operation by removing two links. Download the user manual (pdf). Energy saving controls must only be installed by a suitably qualified person in accordance with local wiring regulations. Electricity supply requirements for quartz infrared heatersActivair HQ1500G and HQ3000G wall mounted infrared heaters are designed for 230V single phase electric supplies, the HQ4500G is suitable for 230V single phase or 400V 3 phase use. They are suitable for use in the UK, most of Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, but not the USA. Instant economical infrared heatingActivair quartz infrared heaters are inexpensive to purchase, install and run. They are ideal for area's where raising the air temperature would be prohibitively expensive or impractical. Glare free ceramic infrared heatersHalogen heaters produce instant visible heat, however if the red light produced by quartz halogen heaters is unacceptable, we also stock a range of wall mounted ceramic infrared heaters which do not produce any light or glare.
