How does your portable radiant heater work?Portable radiant heaters work in the same way as the sun. They produce rays that pass through air without heating it, when the rays hit a surface or person; the energy is converted to heat. How much heat do your portable radiant heaters produce?Unlike warm air heaters, which heat the air, that in turn heats surrounding surfaces. The energy from a radiant heater directly heats the surface it is pointed at, so for any given size of heater they feel much warmer. How far away from the heater can warmth be felt? The optimum distance is between 4ft. and approx 12ft. Any closer its far too hot
and further away the heating effect starts to drop off. Do your infra-red heaters produce long or shortwave infra-red?They produce medium to long wave infra red-heat which has two advantages. Can I use your portable electric radiant heater with a timeswitch? No, it is not designed for unattended operation. If you need timed operation, you must use a wall mounted radiant heater instead. How safe is your portable electric radiant heater? They are completely safe, they have been fully tested to BS EN60355-2-30 and are CE marked.Metal finger guards are fitted, to prevent direct access to the ceramic emitters. They are not intended to give full protection for young children, the elderly or infirm. If they are left unsupervised in the vicinity of the heater a guard be fitted around it, to prevent contact, as is normal with any type of heater. Nothing should be placed within 1m of the front of the heaters, and they should not be pointed at combustible or flammable materials. There is no heat coming from my heater, what's wrong? If the power indicator on the front of the heater is lit, but the illuminated switches are not,
the tilt switch has operated. The tilt switch protects the heater if it is knocked over. My new portable radiant heater makes loud popping/cracking noises, is this normal? This is caused by expansion as the heater warms up; it will stop after a few minutes. The noise stops completely after the heater has been used for a few days. You are here:- home > heater index > radiant heating index > portable radiant heater > frequently asked questions
