Cooling in the workplace - Frequently asked questions

How do I cool my factory or workshop?

Before deciding how to cool your workplace it is important to identify the source of the problem. For instance, are the high temperatures caused by machinery, heat from the sun, or lack a lack of fresh air.

Many workplaces can be cooled using fans, mounted in the roof or walls to extract hot air.

Portable fans will cool specific hot spots or overheating machinery.

If the workplace is still too hot, portable evaporative coolers produce high volumes of cool air and are ideal for large areas.

Alternatively if the problem is confined to a relatively small area spot coolers can be used.

What's the difference between evaporative coolers and air conditioners?

Air conditioners are used in sealed areas, i.e. doors and windows are kept shut. They are often used in offices, shops, workshops, etc.

Evaporative coolers are used in well ventilated spaces or outdoors, doors and windows must be kept open. They are used in factories, warehouses, loading bays, and outdoors on construction sites, etc.

What's the difference between a spot cooler and a air conditioner?

They are the same thing. A spot cooler is an air conditioner being used to cool a specific process, i.e. a machine or product. An area, such as a workstation, or individual workers.

Spot coolers are normally fitted with flexible ducts to direct the cold air where it is needed.

Can I use your fans/coolers/air-conditioners in the USA?

All of our products are designed for use with 230V 50Hz single phase or 400V 3 phase 50Hz supplies.

They are suitable for use in the UK, most of Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East (If you are outside of the UK please check your supply before ordering).

Unfortunately they are not suitable for use in the United States.

Can you send someone to see me, or design a ventilation system for me?

We are a manufacturer and distributor of hvac products, we don't design or install systems, consequently we don't have sales engineers on the road.

We have put all the information necessary for customers to design a ventilation system on this website, and our sales staff are happy to offer advice and answer questions about our products. However if customers are unsure how to proceed, they should contact a reputable HVAC contractor.

Can you send me a brochure, leaflet or catalogue?

Printed sales literature has many drawbacks:
Environmentally unfriendly - Forests are destroyed to make paper, and bleaches are used to whiten it.
Wasteful - Sales literature is often read once and thrown away.
Expensive - Leaflets, brochures, etc. are expensive to print and post.
Rapidly out of date - By the time sales literature is printed and delivered it can be out of date.
In comparison sales literature delivered in electronic form has instant global reach, is always upto date, inexpensive and causes no damage to the environment. We therefore only distribute sales literature in PDF format. You will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to open, read and print it.

Acrobat Reader is a free download from Adobe's website.

Where you see the PDF logo pdf logoon this website, you can download printer friendly documents.
